We’re looking for nursing professionals who are invested in continuous growth and training, and in turn, we’re invested in helping them achieve it. HCA Houston hospitals offer many programs and rewards that support nurses in the development of their knowledge, skills and contributions. A wide range of opportunities is available.
Professional Certification Recognition
HCA Houston recognizes the value of acquiring any one of the nationally renowned professional nursing certifications. And our Certification Bonus reward program provides an additional incentive to make the extra effort. Eligible RNs earn a $1000 bonus when they achieve an approved certification and another $1000 bonus each time they renew that certification.
RN Career Enhancement Program
This program rewards RNs who pursue additional professional activities and accomplishments that enhance their competency, knowledge, credentials, and contributions. Eligible RNs earn annual bonuses for a wide range of activities including: acquiring advanced degrees in nursing, completing additional continuing education, teaching, participating on a hospital committee, getting involved in process improvement initiatives, volunteering in the community, acquiring advanced life support provider and instructor certifications, and being a member of national professional nursing organizations. The Career Enhancement program allows nurses to grow their earnings, as they grow their career.
Advance your Educational Credentials
Many RNs have a great desire to earn their bachelor’s, master’s and even doctorate degrees, but are challenged to find the time and/or finances to make it happen. HCA supports its nurses in pursuing their education goals through such partnerships with the University of Texas at Arlington and Western Governor’s University. Our tuition reimbursement benefit, flexible scheduling options and available online learning resources provide additional resources to make an advanced degree an accomplished goal.
Continuing Education Opportunities
It’s necessary for every nurse to continue developing their critical knowledge and skills, as well as maintain licensure and certifications. Our nurses take advantage of the many options that their hospitals provide to them to gain continuing education experiences and credits. These include online learning provided via our Healthstream learning system and a partnership with Mosby’s for current and relevant learning resources.
Free Life Support Training
HCA Houston nurses can rest assured that the life support training that they need for their chosen specialties will be provided at their hospitals. American Heart Association certified instructors provide training in basic life support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS). HCA Hospitals also sponsor training in STABLE, as well as the Trauma Nurse Certification Course.
The Rewards of Mentoring
Many HCA nurses experience professional growth as they serve as a mentor to other nurses who are new to the organization and/or the nursing profession. In addition to the opportunity to make a contribution to the career of a colleague, our mentor pay program provides additional recognition of this important service to the nursing team.
